B.K.S. Iyengar

Mr. Iyengar was the founder of the style of yoga known as "Iyengar Yoga" and was considered one of the foremost yoga teachers in the world. He wrote many books on yoga practice and philosophy including Light on Yoga, Light on Pranayama and Light on the Sutras of Patanjali,  Light on Life and Yoga Wisdom & Practice.

With its use of props and modifications, the Iyengar method allows access for all ages, body types and levels of conditioning.

Iyengar Yoga Studio of Little Rock


The Iyengar Yoga Studio of Little Rock is dedicated to the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar. The Iyengar method emphasizes correct alignment of the whole body. The focus on proper alignment builds strength, stamina, flexibility and balance. 


Through the asanas (postures), the entire body is affected. With a regular practice of Iyengar yoga, students will progress with an understanding of the most basic postures to a more advanced practice. The body achieves strength and flexibility while the mind achieves a sense of peace. Aches and pains are often eliminated and posture is improved.


The IYSLR strives to provide a welcoming place to practice the art of yoga. All students are encouraged to practice at their level. By using props such as blocks, bolsters, straps, blankets and chairs, the asanas become accessible to all.
